District 59 Annual Conference in Metz
May 15–17, 2026
The conference centre couldn't be nearer to Metz-Ville station and is very walkable from the city centre. Here are the main ways to reach Metz Congrès Robert Schuman, 100 Rue aux Arènes, 57000 Metz, France.
This is the easiest option and why we're happy to host the conference in Metz! The venue is easily walkable from the station, around two minutes!
The walking route is easy but it depends whether you come out of the front or the back of the station where the Centre Pompidou and regional bus stops are. The fastest is to go to the back following signs for the Centre Pompidou. Otherwise exit Metz-Ville station towards Place du Général de Gaulle then walk toward the Amphithéâtre district.
Note this carefully! Lorraine TGV is about 30 km from Metz. This station is mainly used for TGV interconnections with trains from Nantes, Rennes, Bordeaux, CDG Airport, etc.
There are dedicated connecting shuttle buses to Metz-Ville station (which wait also if there are delays). The travel time is about 30 minutes.
You can get a Taxi/Uber from Lorraine TGV to the congress centre in about 25–35 minutes. But it's expensive, especially late evening.
Take a direct TGV CDG → Metz TGV Lorraine station, then shuttle bus to Metz main railway station (not Metz City!), travel time about one hour twenty minutes. Then walk from Metz station to the congress centre.
A bus comes to Metz Bus station from Saarbrücken Bus station and takes just over an hour. But you have to get from the airport to the bus station! So allow at least 2.5 hours door to door. There are numerous options every day.
Try to avoid this as the Flixbus route takes between five and seven hours!
You could get a bus to Luxembourg (two hours), a local bus to Luxembourg main railway station (20 minutes) then a train from Metz (1 hour), however there is only one option a day at 11:40 from the airport! The trains from Luxembourg to Metz are frequent, especially at peak times. Allow at least 3.5 hours for this!
FlixBus InformationNote: We have an airport between Metz and Nancy which is the closest but there are no services that would be useful most likely. If you happen to find one, we'll make a news story out of it!
Metz is connected to major European motorways:
Paid parking is available around the Amphithéâtre district, Metz station area and Pompidou-Metz parking facilities.
You can get a preferential rate of €25.50 from Friday evening to Monday morning, but only for the public car parks Gare Charles de Gaulle or Centre Pompidou-Metz.
The Le MET' park-and-ride facilities make access to the city center easier, with a Mettis articulated bus every 10 minutes.
There are three park-and-ride facilities (Rochambeau, Woippy, Foire Expo), named and signposted P+R, which allow you to park your vehicle for free.
Note that you have to take the Mettis and buy a Mettis ticket to your destination. You will then use this validated ticket to exit with your car when you leave. You can leave your car there for the time of the conference for the price of a Mettis ticket (under 2 euros!).
For free parking you have to leave the centre where there are some known free parking spots.
We can recommend the Palais des Sports, near our football stadium (Saint Symphorien) between Metz and Longeville-lès-Metz, there are about 600 free parking spots. You can then find a bus or walk.

Many buses stop near the station, so you can get a bus then walk 2-5 minutes.
