Jack Gilbey is a Toastmaster of seven years (by which he means he has been a member of Toastmasters for seven years – he is more than seven years old.). Among other performances, he has entertained with the Insécure et Dangéreux comedy group in Brussels, and was a comedian in the Toastmasters Belgium HumourFest of 2019 too. He is a member of the Black Forest Toastmasters Club of Brussels.

The workshop will feature
-activities to identify this “secret” ingredient of humour in sketches that the presenter performs
-practice of humorous delivery, where all participants will have the opportunity to improve their delivery for humorous speeches- for some lucky volunteers…take part in humorous debates using archetypal characters that cross space, time and culture (the rebel and the conformist, the genius and the fool etc).
You will also learn:
-The value of humour even in professional contexts
-How to convey humour in your intonation and wording (including what not to say)
-Where to look for humour (with examples from Toastmasters materials… including Pathways, its education program)
-How to show humour in different kinds of speech… and in your reactions to others’ speeches
-And other ways in which you too can use the power of this badly-kept secret of comedy in your own speeches, whether at Toastmasters or beyond
